Unblock By Way Of Chirey Tiggo 2 & MIAS 2025
[edit]- For the record, here is the previous request. Webfil (talk) 18:05, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Bull-Doser your last request was denied for the following reasons :
- You failed to participate meaningfully in the discussion on COM:AN/U regarding your actions;
- The block in effect is limited to upload. You were asked to rather open a new discussion with the community;
- The request was hasty;
- The request did not demonstrate the issue was understood or provided reason to believe the commitment;
- To measure the progress you may have made since your last request, can you please spend the care of answering the following questions :
- Regarding the matters at hand, can you sum up the reproaches that the community has levelled at you?
- What are the actions you intend to take for it not to happen again?
- Regarding your proposition to take down some of the photos you uploaded (you mentioned it twice in the last discussion), can you provide the community with your understanding of the process to delete files on Commons?
- Please understand that the attention you put in addressing these issues will help the community to formulate their arguments in favour or opposing the unblock request. Webfil (talk) 18:44, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Officially having other plans from Wikimedia Commons uploading for ten months and with the Montréal International Auto Show (one of my most important events of the Wikimedia Commons for only cars) coming by the day past tomorrow with attendance to be next Wednesday when I am back from Puerto Vallarta I am pleased for illustrating the Chirey brand (North American name of Chinese automaker Chery) to the page because of my Sunday photographs of a Chirey Tiggo 2 with the front & rear illustrations. -- Bull-Doser (talk) 19:24, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Bull-Doser: Your reply does not provide any answer to the three questions I had asked. I'll rephrase them :
- Why were you blocked?
- What will you do to avoid being blocked again?
- Can you tell how are files deleted on Commons?
- Also, as previously requested, please comply to talk page etiquette in order to keep the discussion legible by other users. That includes using the proper indentation (the columns ":" at the beginning of your message) and pinging other users when replying to them. With over 36,000 edits on Commons over the course of 18½ years, and nearly as much on the English Wikipedia, this should not strike you as new. --Webfil (talk) 13:44, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- For my blocking subject it was a victim of me accidentally missing out on the dings early last year plus over a year ago and forgetting to subscribe. It was also a victim of me overwriting files and also yet uploading photos in my now-phased-out paparazzi career (which happened nine months before the block) and taking pictures in private places such as Chez Roger within nearly three years annually attending the venue that hosted the radio show La soirée est encore jeune. To prevent a block again I would stop uploading pictures of celebrities because of my police warning over a year ago. For file deletions on Commons one of them would add a deletion notice on the affected photo ahead of an admin taking the photo down. -- Bull-Doser (talk) 18:16, 16 January 2025 (UTC) Reply edited to adjust indentation. Webfil (talk) 18:47, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

- @Bull-Doser your last request was denied for the following reasons :
@Bull-Doser For now, I cannot propound the retrocession of your uploading rights for there is too little to rely on. Have you realized yet that you are only blocked from uploading files? You may still contribute in any other ways to show your willingness to engage in discussions and your capacity in constructive editing regarding matters of your interest. For example :
- Since you seem to have strong interest in cars from around the world, you can help by adding correct categories to some of the many of uncategorized images of cars;
- Since you seem to have interest in identifying people, you can help by categorizing files that have been uploaded without specifying a category;
- To show you fully understand the Commons deletion process, you may engage in discussions regarding the deletion of files regarding specific subjects.
Ever since you were deprived from the uploading rights, you have not contributed in any other matter than asking to get these rights back. For me, at the moment, there is not enough evidence of your rehabilitation for an unblock. --Webfil (talk) 18:47, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- I just was at the Montreal International Auto Show last Thursday and a few pictures are missing from Commons:
- 2025 Ford Expedition (facelift)
- 2025 Lincoln Navigator (facelift)
- 2025 Nissan Kicks Play (original Kicks that still continues on sale)
While in Puerto Vallarta this month I photographed a pickup truck of a radio station. -- Bull-Doser (talk) 02:32, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- I would honestly support this unblock. As a fellow Commons car photographer, this user's images have a sort of reputation of being poor quality. I think Bull-Doser should be given another shot at it. Bull-Doser, I ask you a couple of things that you could do to not have this sort of spectacle occur again:
- - Use a proper camera, and not old smartphones. Some of your photos are taken with Android phones that are 5 or more years old, which doesn't translate well to photo quality.
- - Wipe off your lens before you take photos, a lot of your photos are cloudy and look like the lens is smudged
- - Spend a bit more time on the composition before you take a photo, don't just snap randomly and quickly
- - Don't upload photos of people, this is something that caused a lot of issues in the past
- If you consider all of these steps, you will probably have more success. Look at other photos of cars on Commons to understand what I'm saying. I myself take photos with an iPhone at this point, it just takes a bit of practice to get used to car photography, even using a smartphone. If you achieve "pretty good" photos with a smartphone, you'll probably take "very good" photos with a proper camera - something line a Sony A6000 or a proper mirrorless is what I am looking at this moment; maybe something of this sort could help you in your own photography.
- You've been on Commons since 2006 - that's almost 20 years. I appreciate the dedication, but honestly, if you follow these steps, your photography will probably improve significantly more than it had ever been. If you promise here to improve your images and address the concern of image quality this can all be put in the past. It will require a bit of work but it will make your images significantly more usable overall and none of this will have to happen again.
- Good luck, CutlassCiera 16:25, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

For last month's auto show I used an ol' Samsung Galaxy Core before usin' a Samsung Galaxy A03s for most of the photos. -- Bull-Doser (talk) 23:52, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Question - why do you even have this many old cell phones?
- Regardless, if you respond to the question from the other user above and state that you'll commit to do all of the things I recommended you do, you will probably get unblocked. I think it'd be very nice to have you back here. Thanks, CutlassCiera 16:39, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- This is because since the previous decade's start I have been collecting so many used electronics from electronic depositories from Staples, Best Buy, Target & other stores but had been most recently reduced to shift towards finding public-transit tickets in subway stations due to me not a driver. -- Bull-Doser (talk) 17:07, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

- Most of my car pictures are better quality since last March although I photographed in August of the same year car pictures from Europe with many of them from France because of me attending the Olympics in Paris, my second of such after Vancouver 2010. -- Bull-Doser (talk) 22:16, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

- @Matrix : I am surprised to see that only Cutlass' suggestions were retained as conditions to the upload unblock. It seems that indeed low quality of Bull-Doser's uploads were one of the motives leading to his block, but their erratic engagement in community discussions concerning them or their actions at first degree was also raised as an issue. Can you elaborate on the choice of the unblock conditions? Webfil (talk) 22:10, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- The main issue was photo quality. The inability to engage with other users properly was also an issue but in the discussion itself the number one issue was image quality. That would be why Bull-Doser was blocked only from uploading files and not from the rest of the community space; if Bull-Doser's inability to discuss was the predominant issue, his account would be blocked from all community spaces, not just uploading files. CutlassCiera 14:50, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- Pretty much what Cutlass said. Lack of engagement in discussions surrounding them is usually a secondary factor (as the primary factor will almost always be what caused the discussion in the first place). Of course if this is repeated it can be a factor in determining block length. —Matrix(!) ping onewhen replying {user - talk? -
uselesscontributions} 18:57, 12 February 2025 (UTC)- Comment Bull-Doser is not a communicator (to put it lightly) and I think they have become less so over the years. Most of what's written here is only semi-comprehensible, and I truly don't believe they understand what we are saying. On the other hand, they are never unpleasant or hostile and their worst crime is uploading garbage photos (having promised not to upload any more pictures of people) so I agree with giving them another chance. mr.choppers (talk)-en- 02:37, 13 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Emilie Kahn au Rialto.PNG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Mazda Miata has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |
